We do not take any decision producing legal effects concerning you based solely on automated processing. Automatic fraud-prevention measures may temporarily suspend an Order; you can then ask for your situation to be reviewed by a member of our team.
4. Location
Location is at the heart of the Services: it is used to find a nearby Partner, calculate the route and price, and track the Order in real time.
- Customers: the App accesses your location only while it is open or in use, unless you grant different permission. Your location is shared with the assigned Partner during the Order.
- Partners: when you are logged in and available, the App collects your location including when it is in the background or closed, in order to offer you nearby Orders and allow the customer to track progress. Collection stops when you log out or switch to “unavailable” mode. This use is explained to you in the App before any permission request.
- Real-time trip sharing with your loved ones is only turned on if you choose to do so.
You can withdraw location permission at any time in your phone’s settings. You will then be able to enter addresses manually, but some Services, such as real-time tracking, will no longer work.
5. Health data (Pharmacy service)
Prescriptions and products ordered from pharmacies are health data, which the Law classifies as sensitive data. We apply enhanced protection to them:
- they are only collected with your explicit consent, obtained in the App before the prescription is sent;
- they are only shared with the partner pharmacy handling your Order. The courier does not see the content of the prescription, only the information needed for delivery;
- access is limited to the members of our team who need it to handle a complaint or request from you;
- they are never used for advertising or shared with advertisers;
- prescription photos are deleted as soon as they are no longer needed to process your Order.
You can withdraw your consent at any time. You will then no longer be able to use the Pharmacy service, with no effect on the other Services.
6. Who we share your data with
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We only share it in the following cases:
- With the Partners fulfilling your Order: your first name, your profile photo if any, your rating, your pickup and delivery addresses, your location during the Order, the content of the Order and a way to contact you. Likewise, the customer receives the Partner’s first name, photo, rating and vehicle.
- With the Recipient of a delivery or parcel: the information needed for tracking and handover.
- With our service providers, who act on our instructions and are contractually bound to confidentiality and security: hosting and storage, mapping and route calculation, SMS and notification delivery, mobile payment, customer service, technical analysis and crash reporting.
- With companies in our group, where applicable, which undertake to comply with this policy.
- With administrative or judicial authorities, where required by law or in response to a valid request, and where necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of Ankabut, its Users, its Partners or the public, or to prevent fraud.
- In the event of a corporate transaction (merger, acquisition, asset sale, restructuring): your data may be transferred to the acquirer, which will be required to comply with this policy. We will inform you before your data becomes subject to a different policy.
- With your consent, in any other case.
We do not allow any third party to use your data to send you its own targeted advertising, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising purposes.
7. Transfers outside Niger
Some of our service providers, in particular for hosting, mapping or notifications, may process your data in facilities located outside Niger. In accordance with the Law, such transfers are only made to countries or recipients offering an adequate level of protection, or under appropriate safeguards, in particular contractual confidentiality and security commitments, and after completing the formalities required by the supervisory authority.
8. Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account exists and as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy. It is then deleted or anonymised, except where retention is required by law (in particular accounting records) or necessary to handle a dispute or prevent fraud.
9. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss, unauthorised access, disclosure or alteration: encrypted communications (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted passwords, access control and logging, access limited to authorised staff, confidentiality commitments from our teams and service providers.
As no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach presenting a risk, we notify the supervisory authority without delay and, where the risk is high, the individuals concerned as soon as possible, in accordance with the Law.
You help keep things secure by keeping your login details confidential and never sharing a code received by SMS with anyone, including someone claiming to be from Ankabut.
10. Deleting your account
You can delete your account and the associated data at any time:
- in the App: Profile, then Settings, then “Delete my account”;
- without the App: from the page ankabut.co/en/suppression-compte, or by email to contact@ankabut.co.
Once confirmed, your account is deactivated and your data is deleted or anonymised, except for data we must keep under the law or to handle a dispute or prevent fraud.
11. Notifications and messages
We send you service notifications and SMS (verification code, order status, security), which are essential for the Services to work.
Our promotional messages are only sent to you in accordance with the Law. You can opt out at any time in the App settings, by following the unsubscribe link in an email, or by turning off notifications in your phone’s settings.
12. Minors
The Services are reserved for people aged at least 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data about minors, except for the information strictly necessary when an adult books a ride for a minor they are accompanying or responsible for.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe that a minor has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Website and cookies
The website ankabut.co uses no advertising cookies or audience measurement tools as of the date of this policy. When you visit, your browser technically sends your IP address to our host and to the services providing the fonts (Google Fonts, Fontshare), solely to display the Site.
If we add non-essential cookies in the future, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.
14. Links to other websites
Our Services may contain links to third-party websites or services, such as app stores or social networks. We have no control over their practices and encourage you to read their own privacy policies.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date of the last update appears at the top of this page. In the event of a significant change, we will inform you in the App or by email before it takes effect.
